AGREE! Deprogramming the media’s definition of authenticity is a personal goal, I personally like the phrases “play with me” or “indulge me for a second” because it feels like giving permission to having a pretend/child-like approach conversation resulting in low stakes.

I love those phrases, it's like you're saying, guard down, just relax, let's get on the same level and be real. Thanks for sharing. X

idk a better word, but I agree with the sentiment. Be who you are when the mic’s off and nobody is listening. It’s the same as culture. Culture is what happens when the boss is away. It’s what happens in the gaps.

Hey Kristen, thanks for taking the time to read the post and for getting in touch. Agree, that sentiment captures it well, it's so much easier said than done, unfortunately.

Irene i too have overused that word over the last two decades - but i think i was using it wrong - or at least i think the mainstream media world has gone on to make it mean something it does not actually mean {see the Three Amigos "plethora" clip - https://youtu.be/P8ROhP_3-Qk?si=w4u_fr8O1NmIzqNN }

i always meant Authentic to be that feeling of inspiration - that REAL - That honesty that made you feel alive - that genuine conversation spark that made you and the people with feel like you became more real - more yourself - BETTER - i would describe it as "closer to God" but you might want to say that those times of your life where you became more of who you were designed to be - you GREW -

it always meant the better - the good - the growth

IN MY MIND.....

but today "authentic" is used as an excuse as being a pig, being rude, being gross, being base, being the worst of what humanity can be - they tell a horrible story and if someone complains people say "but they are being authentic!" Authentic what? Authentically awful!

anyway - enough from me....

"Be the version of you that you can be without practising". Don't be AI. AI doesn't know when to insert an Um or Ahh, clear it's throat or pause whilst it thinks of the right word to insert in a sentence.

Love it Simon, great tip.
